What We Do

RUSSIAN AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH

The Russian American Cultural Heritage Center Inc. (RACH-C) initiated Russian American History Month with the Senate of New York State in 2012. Since then, supported by a coalition of Russian and American organizations, RACH-C has been the organizer of the Russian Month.
The resolution has passed by both houses.

In his proclamation, Governor Cuomo congratulated the Russian American Community on celebrating their cultural pride and place in American Society.

CULTURE GROUP  COACHING

Over the years people have approached us for help developing non-profit and for-profit organizations. In time  we  formalized that effort into   “Coaching Service” for  organizations with compatible interests and actions.  We invite you to contact us if you are establishing an “interest group”, organizing a “start-up” or expanding an organization within scope of Russian American and Russian speaking people of other nationalities that share culture, history and interests. We may be able to help you reach such goals.

RESEARCH AND PUBLISHING

With the support of the Government Committee on the work of Compatriots Abroad, in 2011 RACH-C published the book “Russians in USA;” Organizations of Russian Immigration In the XX-XXI Century (authors: O. Zatsepina and A. Ruchkin – members of the RACH-C Bd of directors). For the first time in history of research on Russian Immigration to the US the Book presents the forms and methods of work of Russian public organizations in America in the ХХ –ХХI centuries of all waves of migration.

CELEBRATION OF VICTORY DAY

In 2005 RACH-C was the first organization in the US to support the global campaign to disseminate RIA Novosti “St. George ribbons”, symbol of Victory Day and the mem- ory of those who died in World War II. Since 2005 more than 30,000 St. George ribbons were distributed in that effort. Many more are being distributed by many other or- ganizations since then. For many years, RACH-C has participated in the Victory Parade in New York City and the celebration at Arlington Cemetery in in Washington, DC, where Soviet and American veterans honored their historic, emotional meeting on the Elbe. Since 2016, representatives of RACH-C join the ranks of the “Immortal Regiment” in NYC to commemorate veterans of the Second World War and to pay homage to all of its victims.

CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL OF RUSSIAN CULTURE

RACH-C first organized and held the Festival in Manhattan in 2006. Over the years it  became an international event attended by children’s groups from different countries and cities in the US, Russia, Canada and Europe. The festival has brought together  expessions of various communities reflecting the culture of the peoples of Russia and other Russian speaking counties. In 2011, the Festival received the “Silver Archer” award for the “epitome of cultural programs in the United States, aimed at highlighting the history of Russian and related folk and classical traditions.”
