Children's Festival of Russian Culture

Information for Visitors

 

Admission is free to the RACH-C “Children’s Festival of Russian Culture” which draws visitors and performers from the greater New York Metropolitan area and beyond.

A dozen Russian Folk Ensembles will perform music and dances dating back hundreds of years. On the large stage at the Cloister Lawn of Fort Tryon Park,  The “Golden Rooster” from Brooklyn New York;  Rodnik,” (The Children’s Chorus of the Russian Embassy in DC); will join others on stage which will change constantly from 12:00 PM 5:00 PMAdding to the entertainment will be a Puppet Show, games, interactive arts and crafts, face painting, and more.

Parent’s interests will be included, by all means: There will be Russian culture related souvenir tables with memorabilia such as: Matrioska dolls, shawls, Russian Blue China, Children’s Books in Russian and/or about Russia, Jewelry, Ikons etc. for sale.

Both children and parents, Russian and non-Russian, will enjoy Russian foods and beverages.

Families that attend this festival will also have the opportunity to take their children for a visit to the Famous Cloister Museum.

Our Honorary Festival Committee and sponsors consist of eminent officials from both the US and Russia such as the Embassy of the Russian Federation to the US;  the Government of Moscow; the Russian Nobility Association in America; The American Russian Aid Organization “OTRADA,” the General Consulate of the Russian Federation. New York City elected officials such as US Congressman, Borough President, State Senators assemblyman, and Council Members, are also Honorary Festival Committee members. 

Note: Because chairs are not allowed on the park lawn, we advise visitors to bring blankets.

The entrance from Fort Washington Ave. will be closed to private vehicles during the Children’s Festival. "Mobility-impaired" visitors may call 212-650-2211 for directions,” to the Cloister Museum.

General Directions

By Train: #1 train to 191st St, exit to broadway. #A train to 190th St

By Bus: M4 or M98 to Fort Tryon Park--Cloisters.

By Bus from the Bronx: M100 or BX7 to Bennett Ave.

By Car: George Washington Bridge to 178th St,  turn left (North) at 181st St go left (West) to Fort Washington Ave., go right(North) to Fort Tryon Park at end. Limited parking available.

Additonal Parking: Cabrini Blvd. at 186th St; Staples at Broadway & 185th St; Broadway before Bennett Ave.; Corner of Nagle Ave., Broadway & Hillside Ave.
