KOLYA KHARITONOV:
NOVEMBER 2007
Kolya Kharitonov needed expensive treatment for a rare form of cancer at St. Petersburg Hospital, Russia. His therapy was partly paid by funds raised at the RACH-C Gala International Children’s Day Celebration which we co-hosted with Ambassador Vitaly Ivanovitch Churkin at the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the United Nations May 24, 2007.
All who supported this effort should be very happy that the treatment appears to be succeeding and we are informed that his prognosis is very hopeful.
11/14/07 - KOLYA HAS BEEN SENT HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL WITH COMPLETE REMISSION!!!

October 18, 2007 to October 21, 2007. Moscow: THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL "RUSSIAN SONG" OF RUSSIAN COMPATRIOTS FROM ABROAD organized by the International Council of Russian Compatriots, the government of Moscow, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Festival brought together 450 participants from 47 countries. The Festival was a tremendous success for participants, the audience of Moscovites ,and the organizers who were able to make it a holiday for the Russian soul and a manifestation of a great Russian presence from all corners of the world.
The US delegation was represented by two organizations: The Russian-American Cultural Heritage Center( RACH-C) and the Congress of Russian-Americans.
Trio "Sudarushka" (Irina Zagornova, Diana Bruk and Katya Prokofieva) from New York and Nikolay Masenkov from San Francisco presented the best from their Russian heritage repertoire. All the US participants were received with wonderful ovations and tears of emotion in the eyes of Moscovites.
The closing Gala Concert of the Festival also commemorated the fifth anniversary of the International Council of Russian Compatriots abroad (MSRS). The President of MSRS, Peotr Sheremyetev, presided at the event.

October 7, 2007 " The RACH-C FALL CONCERT" brought "old" guests, familiar with our concerts, and new ones to Our Savior's Atonement Church. All were enraptured by the splendid voices of Baritone Kreshnik Zhabjaku, and Soprano Anya Fidelia. The highpoint of the evening was their performance of original compositions by composer Margarita Zelenaia who also performed some of her creations on piano.

August 19, 2007 " The RACH-C SUMMER CONCERT" was held at Our Savior's Atonement Church. To the right is the program enjoyed by those who attended the very exciting performance. A high point of the event was the reception held 2 blocks away at "Doňa Carmen's Bakery Cafe" where the Russian and American singers and concert guests shared tables, compliments and songs, over wine and "pastelillos;" a fine combination of Russian and Latino cultural tastes.

| May 24, 2007 "Gala Celebration of International Children's Day" at the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN." This elegant event co-hosted by the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN and the Russian American Cultural Heritage Center, RACH-C, brought together supporters and contributors of RACH-C with diplomatic colleagues of the Russian Mission to celebrate International Children's Day which, in Russia is traditionally celebrated on June 1. |

Kolya Kharitonov, with mother. 
RACH-C chose this child, Kolya Kharitonov, to help this year (May 2007) to overcome a rare disease that is called mezothelioma ( cancer, 1st degree).
Kolya is getting treatment in St. Petersburg. Since he is not originally from that city, all treatment is due to be paid in full by personal funds. The first block of chemotherapy treatment cost $3000. At this period of treatment the boy needs medication of Alimta, produced in Lyllui France. One dose of that medication in Moscow costs from $3,000 to $5,000. Kolya also needs pampers and food products of NAN ( Nestle company) on a permanent basis.

May 19, 2007 "Children's Festival of Russian Culture." Dr. Olga Zatsepina, President of RACH-C, introduces Children's folk Ensembles from Washington DC, to Siberia, to Brooklyn, as they brave Spring rains to perform before hundreds of guests anxious to see authentic Russian dances and songs by costumed performers at the first Children's Festival of Russian Culture, organized by RACH-C -The Russian American Cultural Heritage Center, in Fort Tryon Park, North Manhattan.
